1 Komodo Dragons

These are the world’s largest living lizards and can be found nowhere else but in this region. Visitors usually head to Komodo Island or Rinca Island to see them in their natural habitat. These prehistoric creatures can grow up to 3 meters in length and are both impressive and intimidating.

2 Diving and Snorkelling

The waters surrounding the islands in the park are teeming with marine life. The park is part of the Coral Triangle, which houses some of the richest marine biodiversity on Earth. Expect to see manta rays, turtles, sharks, and a kaleidoscope of coral reefs.

3 The Pink Beach

One of only seven pink beaches in the world, the sand gets its distinctive colour from red coral fragments. It’s a serene spot for relaxation, swimming, and snorkelling. The contrast of the pink sand against the turquoise waters is breath-taking and provides excellent photo opportunities.

4 Padar Island

Famous for its panoramic views, hiking up Padar Island provides a stunning vista of the surrounding waters and the island’s three turquoise bays. It’s best to visit during sunrise or sunset for cooler temperatures and mesmerizing views.

5 The Marine Life 

Aside from the Komodo dragons, the park is home to a variety of other wildlife. Timor deer, wild boars, and various bird species, whilst the waters around the park reveal pods of dolphins, occasional whale sightings and 260 species of reef-building corals which provide habitats for a myriad of small marine creatures, the foundation of the park’s marine ecosystem. There are more than 1,000 species of fish, several species of sharks, and the area is particularly known for the majestic manta rays.
